I just called my youngest daughter to wish her a happy birthday ; and I'd like to thank her a bit more publicly for being who she is.
I'm getting a mite long in tooth, but can still remember seeing that incredibly tiny little girl, with dark brown hair in the hospital nursery !
She weighed just enough to avoid classification as a "preemie"; but had to stay in the hospital an extra day or two.
She matured into an incredibly intelligent young woman : graduating Summa Cum Laud from Rutgers, and earning a Phi Beta Kappa key in the process.
Today, Laura teaches French : a language she speaks almost like a native; and she passes her love of learning on to a new generation of young men and women (Okay- I may be stretching a point by calling them that right now; but, by the time she finishes with them, she'll have them well down that road.)
I'm not going to tell you her age ; just that her Mom and I were both under 30 when she came into our lives.
So, happy birthday, Laura !
May you have many,many more.
