Let's Boycott the "China Olympics" !!
We've boycotted the Olympics before - over human rights abuses - and we can very well do it again . It's past time to say we will boycott the 2008 Olympics - scheduled to be held in Beijing - unless they cease their unwarranted, unrelenting persecution of Tibet.
Now they're at it again: stifling peaceful protests with tanks and troops;bullets, bombs, and bayonets ....while complaining to credulous world press it is the Tibetans who are causing the violence.
Disgustingly enough, our own State Department is appealing to the Tibetans for "calm".
This is the same State Department that very recently removed China from the human rights violaters list ... to what end I do not know. The greater glory of Walmart, perhaps ?
Someone said to me yesterday we should NOT boycott the Olympics "because the games are meant to be non-political".
Hah ! Tell me the International Olympic Commission is non-political !!
The idea of a boycott is slowly catching on - even in the Sports world.
On Sunday, I listened as a recent visitor to Beijing described the horrible conditions he had seen just a few days earlier: fine, abrasive dust in the air - just about everywhere. "I couldn't even make out sign colors," he said, "Unless they were exceptionally bright, because there was a dull , yellowish film of dust covering them. People were wearing masks to try and screen out the dirt in the air."
Wow ! The perfect place for running, and jumping, and other competitions that require large amounts of deep, heavy breathing !!
Let's give the games a rest this year.
LET'S BOYCOTT THE 2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS !!

Money talks, unfortunately. I see this in a few corporations where the glory of the government is just a part of doing business. I would love a boycott, but I don't hold my breath (except in China of course)
