Empty Kitchen Chair

Empty_kitchen_chair Time heals all sorrows-

At least that's what they say-

And maybe-maybe I'll be healed

Of this sadness some bright day-

But right now,my eyes are wet-

My very soul lies bare:

As I look across the table

At an empty kitchen chair.

(Chorus)

Oh I try hard to be cynical

And to build a shell of steel

But it just doesn't seem to do much

For the way I really feel !

Tell someone you love them

And show them that you care:

Do it now - before you face

That empty kitchen chair !

As I sit and write these lines

It's almost Mothers' Day:

Last minute shoppers stand in line

For just the right bouquet-

I wish  I could buy flowers too,

And I wish that I could share

A loving kiss with the wife who sat

In this very kitchen chair !
