Remember Ron Paul ? In case you don't, he's a Texas Congresscritter who ran for President last year : mostly on his reputation of being nicknamed " Doctor No ".
Dr. Paul (he is a retired obstetrician) voted against almost every bill presented in the House of Representatives : including appropriations for his own district.
The appropriations would pass anyway (as he well knew) , and he was able to rack up double credits: one for rejecting the measure; another for "winning" an appropriation for his district : a sparsely settled section of Texas, that probably has a smaller population than the suburban NJ town I live in.
The Republican party was underwhelmed by Ron Paul , who, with great effort on the part of his boosters, was able to win a barely-visible 8% of the primary votes .
At the end of the campaign, Ron Paul had about $ 47 million in unspent contributions on hand. He also had family members and connections who had been drawing salaries from the campaign - and it would have been a big no-no to just keep the money; so he did the next best thing: he started a foundation - and put his family on that payroll !
So what his his new cause - The Campaign for Liberty - been up to ?
