I moved to South Jersey in January -after over 50 years in the Central part of the state---and, I have to tell you, it's like living in a different state altogether : area is still relatively rural, people go out of their way to be nice, and sales people in the many highway businesses act as if they actually appreciate your patronage !
I go "exploring " a little bit every week - and one of my happier discoveries was the Harley Dawn Diner on Rte 322 North, Folsom, NJ (Note to self: How did Folsom Borough get its name ? )
I can vouch for good, unpretentious stick-to-your-ribs diner food, served by a courteous and efficient staff.
I can also help verify their claim : "We're 100 % Solar ".
With permission, after I had finished my delicious cream of brocoli soup , I went out and photographed the "solar array" : which was - as you shall see impressive !
The diner is owned by a long term food service professional -David Emmons, and his pleasant wife April-who happens to be a structural engineer as well as a seasoned restauranteur. Their daughter, alto saxophone player Harley Dawn also works there in her free time.
The Press of Atlantic City printed a very nice article on the diner and the family :
Should you happen to be in the area, a family diner offering homemade food---AND---homemade electricity would be well worthwhile !
